Langub Elementary School is one of the schools in the Municipality of Argao, Cebu, Region VII, Central Visayas.
This school was established in the early 1960’s because there was no school in this barangay, so the children young as they were had to walk from Langub to the next barangay which is Gutlang just to acquire education.
Mrs. Alejandra Nazareno who married with Mr. Felomino Nazareno, a local resident of Langub, became the first teacher. At that time even if the teachers were not board passer and willing and able to teach, then she could become a teacher. Looking at the problem, Mrs. Nazareno became the first teacher. Since there was no classroom, classes were held in their house.
Langub Elementary School started as Primary school in the late 60’s and the pupils had their pre-pub made of light materials like bamboo and nipa.
Due to the problem of lack of classroom, Mrs. Alejandra “Nang Andang”, convinced the barangay captain in the person of Gregorio Oyangoren “Nong Gorio” to construct a school in the barangay. The barangay captain responded the request of the teacher. So, she searched for a donor of a certain lot.
There was a kind-hearted woman in the name of Mrs. Natalia Miranda, who has a positive outlook in life especially towards education, who willingly, without any hesitations, donated her lot located in the heart of Langub,Argao,Cebu, bearing the lot # 11275 with the total land area of 10,760 sq. m. which is almost 1 hectare. This lot was generously donated. The following are the boundaries of the given lot. North: lot # 11292- owned by Anacleta Villanueva. South: lot # 11276- owned by Bernarda Villanueva. East: lot # 11389; and West: lot# 11280 & 11281.
Due to the effort exerted by the barangay captain and the lot owner, Langub Elementary School emerged in 1960’s. The following buildings were constructed.
1. Marcos Type Building
2. Bagong Lipunan Building 1& 2
The first school head assigned in this school was Mr. Genaro Rellin in the year 1964 to 1969, followed by Caridad Camasura in 1970 – 1975.
In the year 1976 headed by Mrs. Josefina A. Villafuerte, Langub Elementary School catered Grade Five pupils and the first batch who graduated Elementary was in the year 1977 – 1978.
Luckily, most of the teachers came from Langub, so they stayed in their permanent homes together with their families, so they focused their attention in teaching. Langub Elementary School was able to produce quality education.
In the year 2000, a Home Economics building erected due to the effort of another barangay captain who succeeded, in the name of Mr. Generoso Oyangoren. He asked the help from Congressman Crisologo Abines for the construction of the whole building.
In the year 2005, the Marcos type building was undergone renovation through the DepEd funds. The other building had some slight repairs through MOOE and other stakeholders, who gave their support to our school. We, the Langub teachers are proud of our graduates because mostly they became professionals; we have doctors, engineers, teachers, nurses, lawyer and many more.
We are truly grateful and proud to all our benefactors and stakeholders and to the DepEd for the responsible rising of Langub Elementary School.
